We remember Alex as an exceptionally generous, caring, and compassionate partner, and above all, as a loving husband and father. In nurturing those that he cared about the most, whether it was family, friends, colleagues, entrepreneurs or his charitable interests, Alex brought passion, wisdom, sincerity and an unrivaled love of life to all that he pursued.

In his professional life, Alex supported many entrepreneurs launch and grow successful biotechnology and medical device companies. He conceived of Prospect Ventures as a venture capital firm dedicated exclusively to developing and commercializing innovative biomedical technologies. Alex dedicated his career to the business of science and was widely respected for his exceptional skill and talent in identifying new areas of scientific discovery, and his ability to found companies to develop and commercialize those discoveries. With a long track record of successfully partnering with entrepreneurs to launch important new medical products, Alex’s impact on the industry and the hundreds of thousands of patients who benefited from his work will be long lasting.

Prior to co-founding Prospect Ventures, Alex served as a Partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) where he focused on biotechnology and medical device investing. During this period, he co-founded and served as CEO of several important biotechnology companies and led a series of successful investments. Previously, he was CEO and founder of health care consulting firm BioBridge Associates.

Prior to industry, Alex's research experience was gained at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the Genetics Department at the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children, the Whitehead Institute at MIT, and Duke University. Alex received a Ph.D. in Biology from New York University and a B.A. in Biology from Brandeis University, where he later served as Chairman of the University Science Advisory Council and on the Board of Trustees (2001-2011).
